(a) The driver’s license must include:
(1) a distinguishing number assigned by the department to the license holder;
(2) a photograph of the entire face of the holder;
(3) the full name and date of birth of the holder;
(4) a brief description of the holder; and
(5) the license holder’s residence address or, for a license holder using the procedure under Subsection (c), the street address of the courthouse in which the license holder or license holder’s spouse or parent serves as a federal judge, including a federal bankruptcy judge, a marshal of the United States Marshals Service, a United States attorney, or a state judge.
(b) The driver’s license must include a facsimile of the license holder’s signature or a space on which the holder shall write the holder’s usual signature in ink immediately on receipt of the license. A license is not valid until it complies with this subsection.

  • Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
  • Signature: includes the mark of a person unable to write, and "subscribe" includes the making of such a mark. See Texas Government Code 312.011
  • United States: includes a department, bureau, or other agency of the United States of America. See Texas Government Code 311.005

(c) The department shall establish a procedure, on a license holder’s qualification for or appointment to office as a federal or state judge as defined by § 1.005, Election Code, or as a federal bankruptcy judge, a marshal of the United States Marshals Service, or a United States attorney, to omit the residence address of the judge or official and any family member of the judge or official on the license holder’s license and to include, in lieu of that address, the street address of the courthouse or office building in which the license holder or license holder’s spouse or parent serves as a federal or state judge or official.
(d) Repealed by Acts 2011, 82nd Leg., R.S., Ch. 91, Sec. 24.010, eff. September 1, 2011.
(e) Except as provided by this section, a driver’s license issued under this chapter:
(1) must:
(A) be in the same format;
(B) have the same appearance and orientation; and
(C) contain the same type of information; and
(2) may not include any information that this chapter does not reference or require.
(f) In this section, “family member” has the meaning assigned by § 31.006, Finance Code.
