  • AANHPI: means Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander. See California Education Code 79510
  • applicant: includes an indigent person appearing pro se to represent themself at any stage of the case and applying to receive funds from the Transcript Reimbursement Fund established in Section 8030. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • applicator: refers to "structural pest control applicator. See California Business and Professions Code 8507.1
  • ballot: means any of the following:

    California Elections Code 301

  • board: means any entity listed in Section 101, the entities referred to in Sections 1000 and 3600, the State Bar, the Department of Real Estate, and any other state agency that issues a license, certificate, or registration authorizing a person to engage in a business or profession. See California Business and Professions Code 31
  • Board: means the Trustees of the California State University. See California Education Code 90011
  • Board: means the original board and any successor board selected and constituted under this chapter. See California Government Code 6599.02
  • building: includes (a) one or more buildings located or to be located on one or more sites. See California Education Code 81330
  • Building: as used in this chapter , means all or part of any "public and commercial building" as defined in Section 2642 of Title 15 of the United States Code, as that section reads on January 1, 1989, except that "building" shall not mean residential dwellings. See California Health and Safety Code 25919.2
  • bureau: means the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.4
  • CalWORKs recipient: means a recipient of aid under Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 11200) of Part 3 of Division 9 of . See California Education Code 79200
  • candidate: includes any officeholder who is subject to a recall election. See California Elections Code 305
  • Case: means a single legal proceeding from its inception, through all levels of hearing, trial, and appeal, until its ultimate conclusion and disposition. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • Certified shorthand reporter: means a shorthand reporter certified pursuant to Article 3 (commencing with Section 8020) performing shorthand reporting services pursuant to Section 8017. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • chief: means the Chief of the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.5
  • Child support obligee: as used in this chapter means either the parent, guardian, or other person to whom child support has been ordered to be paid or the local child support agency designated by the court to receive the payment. See California Family Code 4550
  • City: includes city and county. See California Business and Professions Code 18
  • City: includes "city and county" and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Government Code 20
  • Community college: means a college of the California Community College system. See California Education Code 79510
  • Construction or alteration: as used in this article , includes any construction, reconstruction, or alteration of, or addition to, any school building. See California Education Code 81130.5
  • County: includes city and county. See California Military and Veterans Code 13
  • County: includes city and county. See California Family Code 67
  • County: includes city and county. See California Food and Agricultural Code 29
  • County: includes city and county. See California Health and Safety Code 14
  • department: means the Department of Veterans Affairs. See California Military and Veterans Code 690
  • Department: means the Department of Food and Agriculture. See California Food and Agricultural Code 32
  • department: means State Department of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 20
  • Deposit holder: as used in this chapter means the district attorney, county officer, or trustee designated by the court to receive assets deposited pursuant to this chapter to secure future support payments. See California Family Code 4601
  • Developmentally Disabled Assistance Act: means the Developmentally Disabled Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 1975 (Public Law 94-103), as amended. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • director: means the Director of Consumer Affairs, unless the context indicates otherwise. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.1
  • Director: means "State Director of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 21
  • Election: means any election including a primary that is provided for under this code. See California Elections Code 318
  • Elections official: means any of the following:

    California Elections Code 320

  • Elector: means a person who is a United States citizen 18 years of age or older and, except as specified in subdivision (b), is a resident of an election precinct in this state on or before the day of an election. See California Elections Code 321
  • employee: means an individual who works for an employer, is listed on the employer's payroll records, and is under the employer's direction and control. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.11
  • Employee benefit plan: includes public and private retirement, pension, annuity, savings, profit sharing, stock bonus, stock option, thrift, vacation pay, and similar plans of deferred or fringe benefit compensation, whether of the defined contribution or defined benefit type whether or not such plan is qualified under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (P. See California Family Code 80
  • employer: means a person who employs an individual for wages or salary, lists the individual on the employer's payroll records, and withholds all legally required deductions and contributions. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.10 v2
  • Family support: means an agreement between the parents, or an order or judgment, that combines child support and spousal support without designating the amount to be paid for child support and the amount to be paid for spousal support. See California Family Code 92
  • Fee-generating case: means any case or matter that, if undertaken on behalf of an eligible client by an attorney in private practice, reasonably may be expected to result in payment of a fee for legal services from an award to a client, from public funds, or from an opposing party. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • field representative: refers to "structural pest control field representative. See California Business and Professions Code 8507
  • firearm permit: includes "firearms permit" "firearms qualification card" "firearms qualification" and "firearms qualification permit. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.13
  • Flag: as used in this division , means the State Flag of California and the Flag of the United States, as defined in this section. See California Military and Veterans Code 611
  • Flag of the United States: includes any flag, standard, colors, or ensign authorized by the laws of the United States or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America, or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, standards, colors, or ensign of the United States of America.   • Green Party: means the Green Party of California. See California Elections Code 7900
  • Indenture: means an agreement entered into by the board pursuant to which revenue bonds are issued, regardless of whether the agreement is expressed in the form of a resolution of the board or by other instrument. See California Education Code 90011
  • Indigent person: means any of the following:

    California Business and Professions Code 8030.4

  • informed consent: means the authorization given pursuant to Section 24175 to have a medical experiment performed after each of the following conditions have been satisfied:

  • Lawyer referral service: means a lawyer referral program authorized by the State Bar of California pursuant to the rules of professional conduct. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • lease or agreement: shall include a lease purchase agreement. See California Education Code 81331
  • Legal Services Corporation: means the Legal Services Corporation established under the Legal Services Corporation Act of 1974 (Public Law 93-355), as amended. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • license: means license, certificate, registration, or other means to engage in a business or profession regulated by this code or referred to in Section 1000 or 3600. See California Business and Professions Code 23.7
  • Licensee: means any person authorized by a license, certificate, registration, or other means to engage in a business or profession regulated by this code or referred to in Sections 1000 and 3600. See California Business and Professions Code 23.8
  • licensee: means a person licensed under this chapter. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.6
  • Licensing board: means any board, as defined in Section 22, the State Bar of California, and the Department of Real Estate. See California Business and Professions Code 30
  • Local agency: means any city, county, city and county, school district, special district, authority, other political subdivision of or within the state, an association or consortium of school districts formed or operating pursuant to §. See California Government Code 6599.02
  • manager: means an individual designated under an operating agreement of a manager-managed limited liability company who is responsible for performing the management functions for the limited liability company specified in subdivision (c) of §. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.15
  • material: means ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or more in securities or other assets valued at the date of disclosure, or in relevant cumulative salary or other income, regardless of when it is earned or expected to be earned. See California Health and Safety Code 24173
  • medical experiment: means :

  • member: means an individual who is a member of a limited liability company as specified in §. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.14
  • offsite building: is a building that is situated on land that is neither owned by a community college district nor leased by a community college district under a lease containing an option to purchase the land. See California Education Code 81130.5
  • offsite building: is a building which is situated on land which is neither owned by a community college district nor leased by a community college district under a lease containing an option to purchase the land. See California Education Code 81160
  • Older Americans Act: means the Older Americans Act of 1965 (Public Law 89-73), as amended. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • operator: refers to "structural pest control operator. See California Business and Professions Code 8506
  • order: include a decree, as appropriate under the circumstances. See California Family Code 100
  • Original board: means the first board of directors constituted and selected pursuant to Section 6599. See California Government Code 6599.02
  • Other qualified project: means a nonprofit organization formed for charitable or other public purposes, that does not receive funds from the Legal Services Corporation or pursuant to the federal Older Americans Act, and provides free legal services to indigent persons. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • Owner: as used in this chapter , means an owner, lessee, sublessee, or agent of the owner of a building or part of a building, including, but not limited to, the state or another public entity. See California Health and Safety Code 25919.5
  • Party: means a political party or organization that has qualified for participation in any primary or presidential general election. See California Elections Code 338
  • person: includes any individual, firm, company, limited liability company, association, organization, partnership, and corporation. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.3
  • person: includes any natural person, corporation, partnership, limited liability company, firm, or association. See California Government Code 7920.520
  • Person: includes a natural person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or public entity. See California Family Code 105
  • Person: means any individual, partnership, association, corporation, limited liability company, or any organized group of persons whether incorporated or not. See California Food and Agricultural Code 38
  • Person: includes any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, limited liability company, business trust, corporation, or company. See California Government Code 17
  • Person: means any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or company. See California Health and Safety Code 19
  • pest control: as used in this chapter are synonymous. See California Business and Professions Code 8505
  • Primary election: includes all primary nominating elections provided for by this code. See California Elections Code 341
  • Pro bono attorney: means any attorney, law firm, or legal corporation, licensed to practice law in this state, that undertakes, without charge to the party, the representation of an indigent person, referred by a qualified legal services project, qualified support center, or other qualified project, in a case not considered to be fee generating, as defined in this chapter. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • Proceeding: includes an action. See California Family Code 110
  • Process: includes a writ or summons issued in the course of judicial proceedings of either a civil or criminal nature. See California Government Code 22
  • Program: means the AANHPI Student Achievement Program established pursuant to this article. See California Education Code 79510
  • program: means a NextUp program as may be established under subdivision (a). See California Education Code 79220
  • Project: means any one or more dormitories or other housing facilities, boarding facilities, student union or activity facilities, vehicle parking facilities, alternative transportation programs, or any other auxiliary or supplementary facilities for individual or group accommodation, owned or operated or authorized to be acquired, constructed, furnished, equipped, and operated by the board for use by students, faculty members, or other employees of any one or more campuses of the California State University, or a combination of those facilities, which may include facilities already completed and facilities authorized for future completion, or any other facilities designated by the board as a project in providing for the issuance of revenue bonds or notes.   • Property: includes real and personal property and any interest therein. See California Family Code 113
  • public records: includes any writing containing information relating to the conduct of the public's business prepared, owned, used, or retained by any state or local agency regardless of physical form or characteristics. See California Government Code 7920.530
  • Qualified legal services project: means a nonprofit project, incorporated and operated exclusively in California, that provides as its primary purpose and function legal services without charge to indigent persons, has a board of directors or advisory board composed of both attorneys and consumers of legal services, and provides for community participation in legal services programming. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • qualified manager: means the individual under whose direction, control, charge, or management the business of a licensee is operated as specified in Section 7536. See California Business and Professions Code 7512.7
  • Qualified support center: means an incorporated nonprofit legal services center that has an office or offices in California that provide legal services or technical assistance without charge to qualified legal services projects and their clients on a multicounty basis in California. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • Regents of the University of California: means any of the following:

    California Education Code 92020

  • revenue bonds: means the written evidence of any obligation, other than revenue bond anticipation notes, issued by the board, payment of which is secured by a pledge of revenues or any part of revenues, as provided in this article, in order to obtain funds with which to carry out the purposes of this article, irrespective of the form of the obligations. See California Education Code 90011
  • Rules of professional conduct: means those rules adopted by the State Bar of California pursuant to Sections 6076 and 6077. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • School building: as used in this article , means any building used, or designed to be used, for community college purposes and constructed by the state, by any city, county, or city and county, by any district of any kind within the state, by any regional occupational center or program created by or authorized to act by an agreement under joint exercise of power, or by the United States government, or any agency thereof. See California Education Code 81050
  • School building: as used in this article , means and includes any building used, or designed to be used, for community college purposes and constructed, reconstructed, altered, or added to, by the state or by any city or city and county, by any political subdivision, by any district of any kind within the state, by any regional occupational center or program created by or authorized to act by an agreement under joint exercise of power, or by the United States government, or any agency thereof.   • School building: as used in this article excludes any building which is used for community college district administrative buildings located on a site separate from the community college campuses of the district, and into which students are not required to enter. See California Education Code 81160
  • Sell: includes offer for sale, expose for sale, possess for sale, exchange, barter, or trade. See California Food and Agricultural Code 44
  • site: includes one or more sites, and also may include any building or buildings located or to be located on a site. See California Education Code 81330
  • Spousal support: means support of the spouse of the obligor. See California Family Code 142
  • Spouse: includes "registered domestic partner" as required by §. See California Military and Veterans Code 19
  • Spouse: includes "registered domestic partner" as required by Section 297. See California Family Code 143
  • State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, or a commonwealth, territory, or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. See California Family Code 145
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Health and Safety Code 23
  • state agency: means every state office, officer, department, division, bureau, board, and commission or other state body or agency, except those agencies provided for in Article IV (except Section 20 thereof) or Article VI of the California Constitution. See California Government Code 7920.540
  • Structural pest control applicator: is a ny individual who is licensed by the board to apply pesticides in Branch 2 or Branch 3 on behalf of a registered company. See California Business and Professions Code 8507.1
  • Structural pest control field representative: is a ny individual who is licensed by the board to secure structural pest control work, identify infestations or infections, make inspections, apply pesticides, submit bids for or otherwise contract, on behalf of a registered company. See California Business and Professions Code 8507
  • Subdivision: means a subdivision of the section in which the term occurs unless some other section is expressly mentioned. See California Government Code 10
  • Support: refers to a support obligation owing on behalf of a child, spouse, or family, or an amount owing pursuant to Section 17402. See California Family Code 150
  • Support order: means a judgment or order of support in favor of an obligee, whether temporary or final, or subject to modification, termination, or remission, regardless of the kind of action or proceeding in which it is entered. See California Family Code 155
  • trustees: means the Trustees of the California State University, created under Section 66600. See California Education Code 89000
  • Vexatious litigant: means a person as defined in subdivision (b) of §. See California Business and Professions Code 8030.4
  • Voter: means any elector who is registered under this code. See California Elections Code 359
  • war: shall mean : (a) whenever Congress has declared war and peace has not been formally restored. See California Military and Veterans Code 18
