Terms Used In Indiana Code 20-25-5-5

  • civil city: means a civil city or a civil town, the area of which, or the major part of the area of which, is under the jurisdiction of a school city. See Indiana Code 20-25-5-5
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • school city: means a school corporation that at any time:

   Sec. 5. As used in this chapter, “civil city” means a civil city or a civil town, the area of which, or the major part of the area of which, is under the jurisdiction of a school city.
