Except if the child involved is subject to the jurisdiction of an Indian tribe pursuant to the Indian Child Welfare Act, the district courts of this State have original jurisdiction in adoption proceedings.

- Indian child: has the meaning ascribed to it in 25 U. See Nevada Revised Statutes 127.003
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
