Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 9:3-40.2

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 1. As used in this act:

“Approved agency” or “agency” shall have the same meaning as provided in section 2 of P.L.1977, c.367 (C. 9:3-38);

“Department” means the Department of Children and Families;

“Staff member” means a person 18 years of age or older who is an administrator of an agency, or who works in an agency on a regularly scheduled basis during the agency’s operating hours. Staff member includes full-time, part-time, voluntary, contract, consulting, and substitute staff, whether compensated or not.
