- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Financial transaction card: includes :
(i) a credit card; (ii) a credit plate; (iii) a bank services card; (iv) a banking card; (v) a check guarantee card; (vi) a debit card; (vii) a telephone credit card; and (viii) a device for access as defined in Section 7-16a-102. See Utah Code 13-38a-102 - Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Notice: includes all papers and orders, except process, required to be served in any proceeding before any court, board, commission or officer, or when required by law to be served independently of such proceedings. See Utah Code 17-22-1
- Person: means :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Process: as used in this chapter includes all writs, warrants, summonses and orders of the courts of justice or judicial officers. See Utah Code 17-22-1
- Property: includes both real and personal property. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Receipt: means any document related to the transaction of business provided to a person that uses a financial transaction card. See Utah Code 13-38a-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
- Writ: means an order or precept in writing, issued in the name of:Utah Code 68-3-12.5
