- Administrator: includes "executor" when the subject matter justifies the use. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Allocation date: means :
(a) June 20 of the second calendar year after the local school board general election date described in Subsection 53G-3-302(3)(a)(i); or (b) another date that the transition teams under Section 53G-3-302 mutually agree to. See Utah Code 53G-3-102 - Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
- Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
- Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
- Canvass date: means the date of the canvass of an election under Subsection 53G-3-301(5) at which voters approve the creation of a new school district under Section 53G-3-302. See Utah Code 53G-3-102
- Consolidation: means the merger of two or more school districts into a single administrative unit. See Utah Code 53G-3-102
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- County legislative body: means :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Creation election date: means the date of the election under Subsection 53G-3-301(9) at which voters approve the creation of a new school district under Section 53G-3-302. See Utah Code 53G-3-102
- Decedent: A deceased person.
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- existing school district: means a school district from which a new district is created. See Utah Code 53G-3-102
- Fiduciary: A trustee, executor, or administrator.
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Land: includes :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
- new school district: means a school district created under Section 53G-3-301 or 53G-3-302. See Utah Code 53G-3-102
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Person: means :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Process: means a writ or summons issued in the course of a judicial proceeding. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Property: includes both real and personal property. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5

- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
- remaining school district: means an existing district after the creation of a new district. See Utah Code 53G-3-102
- Restructuring: means the transfer of territory from one school district to another school district. See Utah Code 53G-3-102
- Signature: includes a name, mark, or sign written with the intent to authenticate an instrument or writing. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Town: includes , depending on population, a metro township as defined in Section 10-3c-102. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
