Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 15 Sec. 1303

  • Duty of support: means an obligation imposed or imposable by law to provide support for a child, spouse, or former spouse, including an unsatisfied obligation to provide support. See
  • Law: includes decisional and statutory law and rules and regulations having the force of law. See
  • Responding tribunal: means the authorized tribunal in a responding state or foreign country. See
  • State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U. See

§ 1303. Application of law of State

Except as otherwise provided in this title, a responding tribunal of this State shall:

(1) apply the procedural and substantive law, generally applicable to similar proceedings originating in this State, and may exercise all powers and provide all remedies available in those proceedings; and

(2) determine the duty of support and the amount payable in accordance with the law and support guidelines of this State. (Added 2015, No. 16, § 2, eff. June 1, 2015.)
