Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 5 Sec. 481

  • Aircraft: means a contrivance used or designed for navigation of or flight in the air and specifically includes ultralight aircraft. See
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • Person: means an individual, firm, partnership, corporation, company, association, joint stock association, or body politic, including a trustee, receiver, assignee, or other similar representative. See

§ 481. Lien for damages

The injured person, or owner or bailee of the injured property, shall have a lien on the aircraft causing the injury to the extent of the damages caused by the aircraft or objects falling from it when the owner or lessee is liable for the damages. (Added 1985, No. 222 (Adj. Sess.), § 2.)
