Terms Used In Florida Statutes 627.617

  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • insured: as used in this part , shall not be construed as preventing a person other than the insured with a proper insurable interest from making application for and owning a policy covering the insured or from being entitled under such a policy to any indemnities, benefits, and rights provided therein. See Florida Statutes 627.631
The contract shall include the following provision:

“Change of Beneficiary: The insured can change the beneficiary at any time by giving the insurer written notice. The beneficiary’s consent is not required for this or any other change in the policy, unless the designation of the beneficiary is irrevocable.”
