  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.

Any member failing to attend the meetings of the board for three consecutive regular meetings, unless excused by the board for reasons satisfactory to the board, shall be deemed to have vacated his seat; and the secretary of the board shall certify that fact to the mayor. The secretary shall likewise certify to the mayor any other vacancy occurring in the board. Any vacancy shall be filled by the mayor by appointment for the remainder of the term.
