- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Signed: includes any symbol executed or adopted by a person with present intention to authenticate a writing. See Texas Government Code 311.005
A person who wants to have the person’s name printed on the ballot as a candidate for a position as an elected director must file with the board secretary a petition requesting that action. The petition must:
(1) be signed by at least 10 registered voters of the district, as determined by the most recent official list of registered voters;
(2) be filed by the deadline imposed by Section 144.005, Election Code; and
(3) specify the commissioners precinct the candidate wants to represent.
