Terms Used In Texas Special District Local Laws Code 1108.053
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Signed: includes any symbol executed or adopted by a person with present intention to authenticate a writing. See Texas Government Code 311.005
A person who wants to have the person’s name printed on the ballot as a candidate for director must file with the board secretary a petition requesting that action. The petition must:
(1) be signed by at least 10 voters in the district;
(2) be filed by the deadline imposed by Section 144.005, Election Code; and
(3) specify the place for which the person is to be a candidate.
