Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 15 Sec. 5-102

  • Adult: means a person who has attained 18 years of age. See
  • Minor: means a person who has not attained 18 years of age. See
  • Stepparent: means a person who is the spouse or surviving spouse of a parent of a child but who is not a parent of the child. See

§ 5-102. Legal consequences of adoption

The legal consequences of an adoption of an adult or emancipated minor are the same as under sections 1-103 through 1-106 of this title, but the legal consequences of adoption of an adult stepchild by an adult stepparent are the same as under section 4-102 of this title.
